Post Office Insurance Review

Post Office Insurance Website (PostOffice.co.uk): The post offices' home page actually made me wish that I was a little kid again, there was a massive picture of Buzz Lightyear with a big logo of Disneyland Paris above him. After a few minutes reminiscing about being there when I was about 7, I decided it was time to grow up and head over to the insurance page.

I clicked the get a quote button rather than taking me to get a quote, it took me to their 'important information' page, told me to read through it and then at the bottom click the next 'get a quote' button. This button though actually opened a new window to the right page.

All the questions were nice and simple and the only irrelevant thing they asked me was the question about my home insurance. The only thing that came close to annoying me was that even after I had given them my cars registration I still had to go through a process of narrowing down all the specifics of the car, even the year the car was made, even though the registration number tells them that. Other than that though I thought the whole process was really simple and only took me a minute to complete. It's worth mentioning though that I couldn't add any extras to my insurance until I had received my final quote. I'd then have to click the extras I wanted and then click recalculate to get my new quote.

My final quote was for either one payment of £1651.99, or I could choose 10 monthly installments of £145.38 with a deposit of £330.39, which would make a total of £1784.19.

Post Office Insurance by Phone: After all the usual recorded messages about them and what they do with your info it was to get through to the department that could give me a quote. The person I spoke to sounded really happy and was easy to talk to which actually made me smile. They explained everything slowly and clearly to me and talked me through each part of the quote. Even before the final quote they thoroughly explained all the details of each question to me. They also recommended the level of cover that they thought would be best suited to me, what extras they had and which ones they thought would be useful for me and what they would include, I couldn't of asked for more from them. The excess was also explained to me including their young persons excess of £300, this was a bit of a downer though as that's a fair bit of money. I was then told that they search through a load of other insurance companies to find the best quote. The only downside in my opinion was how long it took, but this was because they explained everything and didn't rush, so I knew exactly what was going on, which I guess is better than a 2 min phone call to someone who doesn't explain anything. At the end of the call they also asked if there was anything else they could do, or if I had any questions that they could answer.

My finial quote from them was from the provider Sabre, I was offered to pay annually at £1092.37, or to pay in 10 monthly installments of £96.13 with a deposit of £218.47 which would be a total of £1179.77.*
