Nationwide Insurance Review

Nationwide Insurance Website (Nationwide.co.uk): As I had guessed, the websites main theme was their usual red and blue, but I did think that with how badly these colors clash and with all the different things going on on the home page that the whole thing looked overcrowded and a bit messy.

The home page also mentioned an online discount to me, which is never a bad thing. Once the new page opened, where I had to fill in my details, things looked a lot simpler and the overall look was much less complicated. At the top of the page they had their logo and a progress bar which filled in with blue as I completed each section.

I was pleased with how quickly I was able to complete the whole thing, and I found all the questions were sensible and each one followed on from the next. The only thing I though was a bit strange was that the lowest value I could put for my car was 'less that £20,000' which left me there wishing I could afford a car that was anywhere near that price. After this though I was taken onto the page where they gave me my quote, it was also on this page I could also add any extras, change my voluntary excess, and change any other details.

My final quote was either for one annual payment of £1584.14, or I had the option to pay in 9 monthly installments of £150.22 with a deposit of £316.83.

Nationwide Insurance by Phone: The first recorded message took me through to the right department, but before I could speak to a person there was another recorded message that made me jump a mile, it came out so loud and the voice sounded so overly happy I actually had to hold the phone away from my ear. Once I was through to a person though they were really polite, introduced themselves and asked if it was ok with me to call me by my name. This made the whole process a lot friendlier, made me feel like I was talking to a real person, not just a machine, which is how I often feel when talking to large companies. They asked me all the usual questions and explained them all but a few times they jumped from one question to the next so fast it was hard to keep up. They explain all the details about their excess payments to me and told me about all their extras including the price of them and exactly what they all meant. I found their service really easy to use though and they didn't ask me any irrelevant or ridiculously long winded questions.

My final quote from Nationwide was for one annual payment of £1118.96, or they gave me the option of paying in 11 monthly installments of £106.11 with a deposit of £223.79*
