The Co-operative Car Insurance Website (Co-operativeInsurance.co.uk): The Co-operative website might not be the prettiest to look at but from the beginning to end it's simple to understand and they don't ramble on and make their questions unreadable. As expected the website is green and blue in colour and they only have a small banner across the top with their logo.
One thing that actually gave me quite a chuckle was when they asked me for my title, as well as having the usual Mrs, Miss and Mr etc. they also have everything I could imagine from Lord, Lady, Duke, Duchess, Squire, Master and Squadron Leader and the list goes on.
The actual quote itself was easy to do, with only one page of questions that asked me about my details, my car and my driving history. After that it was straight on to the actual page where they gave me my quote. It's worth mentioning that on the car insurance home page they offered me an 11% online discount and half off my legal expenses for the first year.
Once on the final quote page, each of the options and extras had little help buttons that then expanded to explain what it all meant. Their standard excess is £100, but they also have a 'young persons excess' of £300 which meant that the lowest excess I could pay would be £400, and that doesn't even include any voluntary excess. One thing I particularly liked about this site though was that they offset 20% of your carbon emissions.
My final quote was £1146.53 and this was for a lump sum payment, they also offered me the choice of paying in 10 monthly instalments of £103.18, with a deposit of £191.16 which would have brought my total up to £1222.96.
The Co-operative Car Insurance Phone:When I first phoned them up a recorded message takes you through the options, once on to the car insurance part the same recorded voice talk about all the legal details of the phone call and how they can be recorded and all the usual stuff. This did go on for quite a while but I guess they have to cover themselves for legal reasons. I was then put on hold, I have no idea what the music they were playing was but it was actually quite good which made the wait almost enjoyable.
The person I spoke to was really polite explained the what I would be covered for and told me all the other options available. My quote from them was exactly the same as my online quote which confused me a bit as these's supposed to be an online discount of 11%. Some things they didn't mention on the phone however were there excess payments, or any of their discount, I'm guessing the same discounts apply as my quote was the same. One thing they did rush was my actual quote, I had to ask them to repeat it as they had said it so fast I didn't quite catch it, this happened when they told me the annual price as well as when they told me the monthly instalment price.
My final quote was £1146.53 annually, or 10 monthly instalments of £103.18 with a deposit of £191.16, which would be a total annually of £1222.96
