Asda Insurance Review

ASDA Car Insurance Website (AsdaFinance.com): Once I was on the ASDA website finding the car insurance section was relatively simple, I just had to click on the right heading. Once through to the 'get a quote' section the first thing I saw was a massive red sign warning about fraud, which is fair enough but was a little bit intimidating.

The actual process to get a quote from them online is rather straight forward, they first asked for my details, then the cars details, then about the cover I wanted and the start date etc. Having things laid out this way makes sense as each section follows on from the next. All the section tabs and help options are in ASDA's usual green colour, and in case you forget which site you're using ASDA's logo is at the top of the page.

While filling out the contact details I had to give them my phone number and my email address, I didn't overly mind this but there is no way to proceed without giving them this information. There were several questions during the drivers section however that I had to read a few times before they made sense, they were questions that needed to be asked but they were worded in such a way that I felt like I was in an exam.

The vehicle section I though was actually quite clever, it asked me the make of my car, then gave me a list of models to select from. Once I clicked on the model of my car it proceeded to give me other options about my car narrowing it down until it had found my car. Overall though other than the two or three questions that made my head hurt just by looking at them, the rest of the website is easy to use, and I made it through to the end without once getting confused or messing something up.

My quote from them was £1750.14, though this didn't include a hire car or breakdown recovery, adding these to my insurance brought my quote up to £1830.04.*

They also offered me the option of paying in 9 monthly instalments of £191.89, which would mean a total price of £2018.41, which would make the deposit £291.40.

ASDA Car Insurance Phone: Ok so to start with I had two not so great experiences with their phone lines, after the usual recorded message that talks about what they do with your information and all that, I was then put on hold and I have to say the music wasn't so bad. However, after 5 minutes I finally got through to a person, they told me there was no one available to take my call, which confused me as they themselves were a person, so I'm guessing they weren't someone who could do quotes? I was asked to phone back in 15 minutes which was a bit silly as the phone lines would be shut after 15 minutes.

I did however phone back after 10 minutes and was this time on hold for just over 4 minutes. This time the person I spoke to wasn't so nice to talk to. I was told that they were very busy and that I should get a quote online instead. This wasn't said in the polite way either, I'm guessing the person I spoke to hadn't had a good day but still there was no need to be quite so blunt and to get me off the phone so quickly. However I tried again the next day and this time I had more luck, I was put on hold again but this time for only 30 seconds. The person I spoke to sounded cheerful and was well-mannered. They talked me through each question and gave me all the information about each part, the only fault I could find was that at some points they talked so fast I couldn't understand them.

My final quote from them was £1678.50 or I could pay monthly with a deposit of £335.74 and then 11 monthly payments of £150.99.*
